I have been looking for a way that I could teach the bible that wouldn’t gloss over everything nor would it be like reading a textbook. When I received the Bible Fluency Learning Kit from Weaver Book Company we were eager to dive in.
Bible Fluency Learning Kit is a course produced by Kenneth Berding as well as help from Redemption Hill Church. He is professor of New Testament at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, so my husband was a little worried it would be to text bookish. He could not have been more wrong.
This has to be the most creative way to learn the Bible. The whole Bible.

You can learn everything about the Bible by using flash cards, music and workbooks. So we listened to the songs and sang along with the CD. You can then watch a video of Professor Berding as he tells you about that days lesson. He is a very good speaker and kept all of us involved in his talk.
There are two music CD’s, one covers the Old Testament books and the other covers the New Testament. The cards combine the 4 gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Then it goes into each book separately. With Easter coming up so soon we decided to study the New Testament first starting with the card set “The Gospels”. Both RestaurantMan and I were amazed at how quickly Logan and Jordan memorized the songs. After the second day they had the words down cold. I think that’s because each card has a symbol for a stanza that is very clear to understand. You know, mnemonics are great ways to help children learn and remember what they learned.
You can then use the workbooks to go line by line of the song and have Bible verses to support what is being sung. Then you can use flashcards to help you remember the words of the song. We had a blast as a family doing this. It allows all of us to learn whether we learn by verbally, visually, or kinesthetically.
Also included is the book Bible Revival written by Professor Berding. It is a brief and basic overview of the Bible and was a quick read. I liked that it was scripturally sound.
If you misplace or lose different parts of your kits you can always go to the website to download the material. I am so impressed with this study of the bible. It can be used for middle schoolers all the way up to age 99+.
